Why Online Corporate Videos – Latest Stats

In 2013, a number of videos viewed online has increased more than 8 times over the last 6 years. (ComScore)  Cisco predicts online video users will double to 1.5 billion in 2016 and online videos will account for 57% of all consumer internet traffic by 2015. Watching online videos is a mainstream activity now.  You may think this is a habit among young people, say, under 40.  It’s just not so.  ComScore found that internet users consume videos across all age groups.  91% of between 18 and 24 years old watch videos online.  88% between 25 and 34, 86% between 35 and 44, 85% between 45 and 54, 85% between 55 and 64 and 84% among 65+ years old.  82 million Americans are watching 1.6 billion videos just today.  It is staggering.

  • 76% of marketers plan to add video to their sites, making it a higher priority than Facebook, Twitter and blog integration (Social Media Examiner)
  • 81% of senior marketing executives now use online video content in their marketing programs, up from 70% in 2011 reported by Marketing CMOs are attracted to video for financial impact and deeper levels of brand engagement (Inforgraphic)
  • Forbes indicates 65% of senior executives have visited a company’s website after watching a video

From SEO point of view,

  • Video results have appeared in almost 70% of the top 100 search listing on Google in 2012 (Marketing Week)
  • The chances of getting a page one listing on Google increase 53 times with video (Forrester Research)
  • Econsultancy estimates videos in universal search results have a 41% higher click-through rate than plain-text results
